Examinations Officer
Job Purpose:
The Examinations Officer will report to the Assistant Registrar and will play a key role within the Examinations Department.They will be responsible for the administration and organisation of all aspects of programme assessment in accordance with the regulations laid down by the awarding bodies. This is a temporary fixed term contract with a duration of six months.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Management of the assessment and examinations process.
- Liaison with programme directors & tutors in the collation of examination papers/continuous assessments and solutions.
- Preparation of examination timetables, assessment schedules and internal and external examination board schedules in conjunction with the assistant registrar
- Liaison with external awarding bodies with regard to assessment & standards policies, learner entries, results submission etc.
- Management of examination logistics (online and onsite) including recruitment and training of examination invigilators etc.
- Liaison with the programme directors and tutors in the issue of continuous assessments, submission of results, and publication of assessment feedback and results.
- Management of transcripts release, and recheck and review processes.
- Administration and day-to-day management of internal and external examination and moderation processes.
- Management of teaching placement results including: scheduling internal and external examination boards, overseeing students with extenuating circumstances or “special consideration”, dealing with review requests etc.
- Management of graduation ceremonies in conjunction with assistant registrar.
- Management of learner entry files, exam broadsheets, diploma supplements, broadsheets to Department of Education and Skills and the Teaching Council.
- Supervision of Exams Office team in ensuring standardisation in implementation of processes and procedures, and dealing with all non-standard issues in conjunction with assistant registrar.
- Provide assistance to the assistant registrar in other areas where necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
- Hold a primary degree.
- Have three years plus experience in a similar role.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritise and manage workload.
- Strong ability to work in an organised and methodical way and have sound organisation and co-ordination skills.
- Work accurately to deadlines in a pressurised environment.
- Have good supervisory skills.
