Applicants who are successful at the initial application stage will be invited to attend a selection event which will normally be held at a local Hub School.
As part of the selection process, applicants are required to undertake four specific activities. Applicants will be rated and assessed by the selection panel. The four activities are:
- A reading and comprehension activity
Applicants will read an article on an educational topic related to their secondary subject and will be asked to provide written responses to a series of written questions. Selection Panel Members will read, consider and assess the content and technical accuracy of the written responses provided by the applicants. This may be supplemented during the individual interview with the applicant, by further questions on what they have written and their understanding.
- A 30-minute individual interview
Applicants will be asked a series of questions designed to assess their suitability to teach. The interview will last approximately 30 minutes.
- A 10-minute lesson presentation
Each applicant will prepare and deliver to the panel a ten minute presentation showing how they would prepare and teach a lesson covering an aspect of their chosen ITT subject. This will be followed by questions from panel members.
- An observed class activity
Each applicant will work with a selected group of children in a classroom on a particular activity or task observed by a selection panel member.
Note that the deadline for applications is May 28th.
