Michael Hallissy – Programme Director
Michael is a former primary school teacher and a founding partner of H2, an education professional services company. He holds a Master’s in Education Technology from Boston College and is currently enrolled in the Ed.D. programme in the Institute of Education in London. His current research project focuses on how young people develop their digital literacy skills in an out-of-school context using computer game creation software.
He has extensive experience in the area of ICT in education. In 1996, he and his business partner, John Hurley, established the first schools’ educational portal site, known as EdNet. He was seconded into the Department of Education to work on the creation of Schools IT2000, the first policy framework document for ICT in Irish schools. He subsequently worked in the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) as National Co-ordinator for Interactive Software in the Curriculum from 1998 to early 2002. Michael and his colleague John Hurley established H2 in 2002 and they provide services to organisations such as government agencies, private companies and non-government organisations in the areas of ICT and education. He has also worked with Trinity College, Dublin and the University of Limerick in the development and deployment of a number of postgraduate programmes in ICT.
