All study materials are delivered online through the Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle), providing trainees with round-the-clock access to:
- On-demand content and live online tutorials
- Downloadable podcast and PDF versions of lessons and recordings of tutorials
- All administrative information such as course calendars, timetables and assessment information
- An extensive online library database
- Discussion forums, blogs and other community-style features
- E-mail and messaging services to colleagues and tutors
- Personal e-portfolios of coursework
Moodle provides an easy-to-navigate, intuitive, attractive interface through which trainees can access all information and online content related to their course. There are two main aspects of the online course delivery: on-demand interactive lectures and study materials that trainees study in their own time and live synchronous virtual tutorials with subject tutors that trainees attend as part of a tutorial group. As part of the formative assessment process, online tutorial sessions may also be used for peer-to-peer presentations to assess subject knowledge alongside the ability to communicate ideas clearly and accurately.
The SKE course is equivalent to a full-time programme with an expected 25 hours study a week expected. While trainees may continue to work, they should be aware that they are required to put in the requisite hours of study equivalent to a full-time course.
