Hibernia College is currently seeking experienced professionals to work as Research Supervisors on the Professional Master of Education in Primary Education (PMEP).

Research supervisors will work with and support students as they write their thesis which forms part of the Professional Master of Education in Primary Education.

Full training will be provided.

Research Supervisor duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Attendance at training which will provide the research supervisor with specific details on the research project, its requirements and training in areas such as academic writing
  • Liaising with the Research Manager
  • Regular contact with students throughout the process
  • Receipt of student reports at key check points during the process
  • Provision of e-mail and telephone support to students as they complete their research project
  • Supporting students as they write their research project; this will include the correction of final draft
  • Marking of student dissertations as per Hibernia College Awards and Assessment procedures

All applicants should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Knowledge and experience of the post primary school system
  • Knowledge of Hibernia College and the PMEP programme
  • Educated to Masters level or above. PhD preferable
  • Qualified post primary teacher, registered with the Teaching Council
  • A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Experience of working with student teachers at third level
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Specific area(s) of research interest and experience
  • Holder of a PhD or near completion of a PhD
  • Experience of previous thesis supervision
  • Experience of supporting student teachers
