Tutor opportunities on the Professional Master of Education Primary

Hibernia College welcomes applications for tutors. Applicants must be qualified at Masters level with additional study undertaken in the curricular area for which they are applying as well as at least 5 years teaching experience. The tutor will be responsible for assisting and supporting student groups in the completion of the Professional Master of Education in Primary Education (PMEP). Tutors are required in the following subject areas:

Tutorial services will include:

  •  Preparation and delivery of tutorials in an on-site and/or online environment.
  • Provision of e-mail and telephone support as required by students for the duration of the programme.
  • Leading and moderation of online forums within the online learning environment.
  • Provision of support to students through the discussion forums within the online environment.
  • Liaison with lead tutors and students throughout the examination and assessment process.

Tutors should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of the primary school system.
  • Qualified Primary teacher, registered with the Teaching Council
  • Experience with a national programme (e.g. PCSP, PPDS, PDST).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ICT skills
  • Masters qualification.

Tutor opportunities on the Professional Master of Education Post Primary

Hibernia College is currently seeking experienced professionals to work as tutors on the Professional Master of Education in Post Primary Education (PMEPP).  Tutors will work with students through online webinars held in the evenings and face to face sessions which are held on Saturdays throughout the year.

Full training will be provided.

Tutors are required in all subject areas including:

  • Accounting
  • Chemistry
  • C.S.P.E.
  • History
  • Maths
  • Physics

Tutor duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing all required training in the College’s online learning platforms.
  • Delivering asynchronous e-mail/forum support to students using the technologies available through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Attending any training sessions, online or onsite regarding teaching, tutoring or assessment strategies that the College may offer as part of ongoing faculty training.
  • Delivering online webinars in their subject area
  • Delivering onsite/Conference Days in their subject area
  • Grading and Moderating assessments

To apply for this position, applicants should exhibit the following expertise and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of the post primary school system
  • Knowledge of Hibernia College and the PMEPP programme
  • Qualified post primary teacher, registered with the Teaching Council in at least one teaching subject
  • A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with student teachers at third level desirable
  • Educated to Masters level or above. Ph.D preferable.
