Helen is a Lecturer in Education at Hibernia College; her background is in post-primary education. She has extensive experience in this area and has worked as a Business and Accounting teacher since 2004. In her 18 years teaching, she spent 12 of those as a Special Education Needs Co-Ordinator and has a keen interest in Inclusive Educational Practices. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Hibernia since 2018, where she worked as a Teaching Methodologies tutor and a teacher placement tutor before taking up a full-time role as School Placement Lead on the PME Post-Primary programme in 2022. Helen has also worked in a part-time capacity for the State Examinations Commission and Junior Cycle for Teachers.
She is currently completing her PhD in Education at Mary Immaculate College and has also worked as a tutor on the BEd programme there. To date Helen has received funding from the ASTI for her research. She is currently working on publishing elements of her findings and completing her dissertation. Helen also holds from Mary Immaculate College a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education and a Master of Education where her research looked at assessment and testing in post-primary.
