Hilary is Head of Teaching, Learning and Assessment on the Primary Programme in the School of Education at Hibernia College. Prior to taking up this position she had been a member of Adjunct Faculty.

Whilst working with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) Hilary was among the first to hold the role of Director, Curriculum and Assessment when the NCCA became a statutory body. Her responsibilities included, but were not limited to, involvement in a variety of innovative projects including languages (Gaeilge and modern languages) and curriculum review at both primary and post – primary levels. She also led the Corporate Affairs team and the development of the Strategic Plan.

Hilary was seconded from NCCA to Froebel College of Education for a two-year period where she held the role of Head of Education and Director of School Placement.

Research Interests

Hilary has been engaged in education throughout her career: as a teacher, in curriculum development at national level and in Initial Teacher Education. She was also external examiner for Hibernia College for a period. Her initial qualification was a B.Ed. (TCD and Froebel College of Education). She completed a MSc. in Education and Training Management (Leadership) with Dublin City University (DCU). She also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies, Diplôme en Français d’Affaires, Certificat d’Etudes en Langue Français

Hilary has been involved in work with Hibernia College for a number of years where she has worked as a tutor for a number of the Pedagogies, a School Placement tutor, a member of the interview panel and a dissertation supervisor.

Her interests include facilitating the journey from teacher practitioner to tutor in Initial Teacher Education.
