Literacy

70.00

This Play-based Learning course explores international best practice in the field of early childhood education, providing teachers with a better understanding of the characteristics of the Síolta and Aistear frameworks and their importance for early childhood education in Ireland. The course examines Stage One of the NCCA Primary Language Curriculum 2016 – The Infant (Stage 1) Curriculum encompassing the principles and methodologies of the 2009 Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework (NCCA). Course participants will explore how playful learning impacts the child’s development, communication and wellbeing and consider how best to organise, manage and assess playful learning. This course provides effective contexts and strategies for developing oral language competencies, reading development and writing skills in the infant classroom, while inputting to the SSE process. The course content also explores the important role of the environment and outdoor play as part of a child’s learning.
