Students from Hibernia College's Professional Masters of Education in Primary Education, will be spending two weeks in the Gaeltacht this coming July. With established partnership colleges in Connemara, Gaoth Dobhair, and in Dingle, students will embark on an immersive learning residency to build on their Irish language skills and to learn more about Gaeilge pedagogy. Staying with local mná tí, the course will afford students the opportunity to engage with Irish language learning in a very natural and active way. The placement will raise both sociolinguistic and socio-cultural awareness of its participants and will foster lifelong learning through structured formal classes, pedagogical and professional sessions on the Primary School Curriculum, and through social activities in the evenings.
Following the implementation of the new Tréimhsí Foghlama sa Ghaeltacht syllabus, designed by the Department of the Gaeltacht in conjunction with Hibernia College and other stakeholders, students will be equipped with the tools and skills required to teach Irish effectively after their Gaeltacht course. All Gaeltacht courses are recognised by the Department of the Gaeltacht and by the Teaching Council.
Tá Coláiste Hibernia ag súil go mór le cúrsaí Gaeltachta na bliana seo agus tá súil againn go mbainfidh mic léinn idir thairbhe agus thaithneamh as an tréimhse ann! Labhair í agus mairfidh sí!
