About the Professional Diploma in Healthcare Leadership Programme
The Professional Diploma in Healthcare Leadership is designed for healthcare professionals who want to lead with greater confidence, clarity and impact in today’s complex health systems.
Whether you’re managing a team, improving a service or preparing for a more senior role, this fully online, part-time programme gives you the practical tools and strategic insights needed to lead effectively — without stepping away from your current role.
Over eight months, you’ll explore how to lead adaptively in uncertain environments, apply quality improvement methods to real-world challenges and deliver sustainable change through strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
The curriculum covers three core areas:
- Module 1 Foundations of Healthcare Leadership
Understand what makes leadership in healthcare distinct. You’ll explore adaptive leadership, ethics under pressure and the influence of bias and values on your leadership. You’ll gain the tools to lead with confidence — even when the path isn’t clear. - Module 2 Healthcare Operations and Quality Improvement
Learn how to spot what isn’t working — and how to fix it. This module covers quality improvement tools, health informatics, risk, governance and managing resources in complex settings. You’ll move beyond ‘problem-solving’ to confidently leading change. - Module 3 Leadership and Resource Management in Practice
You’ll develop skills to think strategically, engage stakeholders, manage limited budgets and plan for innovation and growth. From digital health to service redesign, you’ll learn to lead with a system-wide perspective.
