Biography

John is an Assistant Professor in Education (Primary) in the School of Education, Hibernia College. With over 20 years of teaching experience, including 12 as a principal, John has extensive knowledge of primary education. He has taught across all class levels in a variety of school contexts.

As a principal with an MA in Management in Education (MAME), John has detailed knowledge and experience of leading teaching and learning, fostering individual and collective teacher practice, developing leadership capacity, management, mentoring and organisational culture.

Before joining Hibernia College full time, John had a diverse career in education. He worked as a SPHE and RSE tutor with Hibernia, served as an associate with the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) on the Health and Wellbeing team, and lectured at the University of Limerick, where he was responsible for delivering the ‘Building Culture Capacity and Teams’ module as part of the Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership (PDSL) programme. Additionally, he acted as a mentor at the Centre for School Leadership (CSL).
