Master of Arts in Education

Pending validation, we intend to offer a Master of Arts in Education, Level 9 programme worth 90 ECTS credits.

The Master of Arts in Education is a two-year, part-time, fully online
programme designed to meet the growing demand for flexible postgraduate
training in education. It is relevant to teachers and allied professionals
working in a range of settings and sectors, including early childhood, primary
and post-primary education, further education, health and social care, policy
development and the community and voluntary sectors.

This Master of Arts in Education programme offers a unique opportunity for
educators and allied professionals to enhance their expertise, advance their
careers and contribute positively to the field of education. By providing a
flexible and accessible online platform, the programme promotes lifelong
learning and capacity-building within the education system. Through
its focus on research-informed practice and international perspectives,
the programme empowers participants to become effective leaders and
advocates for quality education for all learners — both locally and globally.  

Entry Requirements

The programme has a minimum entry requirement of a Pass, or equivalent, in a bachelor’s degree at NFQ Level 8. Learners on this programme will originate from cognate disciplines, including but not limited to primary education, post-primary education and further education. Learners from disciplines with a partial alignment, such as social care, may be accepted at the discretion of the programme director, or nominee, following evaluation of individual applications.

Tuition Fees

The indicative programme tuition fee is €9,000.

On acceptance of place: €1,550 deposit. Includes €50 in respect of Garda Vetting processing fee.

First instalment (before course begins): €3,000

Second instalment (approx. 10 months later): €4,500

How to Pay Tuition Fees

The application fee is paid online and must be paid in full before an application can be processed. Tuition fees are to be paid by bank transfer.

Graduation Fee

The current fee for attending the graduation ceremony is €125.

1.7% Learner Protection Charge

This charge is incurred to finance arrangements required under Part 6 of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act, 2012, to ensure protection of enrolled learners and is applied to each fee instalment. The current charge is set at 1.7% of tuition fees.

QQI Certification Fee

A QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) Certification Fee is applicable in the award stage of all QQI programmes. The current applicable Certification Fee is €200. 

Supplementary Fees

There is a list of supplementary fees, which covers additional services in relation to the programme. It will be available to view on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) from the commencement of the programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning Fee

Fees for processing RPL applications are €150, depending on the type of prior learning being submitted for consideration. The fee is payable at the time of submitting the RPL application and independent from the programme application fee.

Tax Relief

Under current Revenue rules, tax relief is available if you are eligible at the standard rate of income tax (20%) for qualifying tuition fees. From September 2017, subject to compliance with Revenue regulations, students who are eligible will be able to claim approximately €800 per year in tax relief over the two years of the course.
