Biography
Breda has been working with the adjunct faculty of Hibernia College as a teacher educator across several modules since 2011. She joined the full time faculty in 2019 and works with the School Placement team. She holds a track record as an accomplished primary school teacher over a long career which began in a Gaelscoil in Cork before moving to a medium size mainstream school where she taught for more than three decades. Breda has experience of teaching all classes including SEN and as deputy principal of her school she saw herself as an instructional leader focusing on school self-evaluation, leading and implementing whole school improvement strategies and mentoring NQTs. She graduated with an MA in Teaching and Learning from Hibernia College in 2015 and was awarded the College prize for the most outstanding student. Breda has presented her research on the impact of early intervention programmes at education conferences. She is passionate about CPD and has delivered CPD training to teachers in the areas of ICT and SESE. Her special interests include developing strategies to enhance múineadh na Gaeilge, mentoring, and promoting action-based research by teachers in primary schools.
