Biography
Fíona joined the School of Education at Hibernia College, full time, in November 2020 and prior to joining, Fíona was working as a Primary school principal.
With over 14 years’ experience in primary school teaching and leadership, both in Ireland and the Middle East, Fíona has a wide range of experiences teaching in all classes across single stream, multigrade, SEN, teaching internationally and teaching in Gaelscoileanna. Fíona volunteered as a facilitator and Co-Ordinator for Rainbows Ireland for many years, was a member of the Droichead Professional Support Team and has a keen interest working along with, and learning from, student teachers.
Fíona also worked with the adjunct faculty prior to joining the School of Education full time, as a panellist for the admissions interviews for the PME, on both the general and Gaeilge components and facilitated face-to-face days, with student teachers, in Early Childhood Education and Preparation for School Placements.
Having graduated with a Master in Education Studies (Intercultural Learning and Leadership) from Trinity College in 2016, Fíona presented her research findings at the INTO Consultative Conference “Teaching in the 21st Century.”
Following further study, Fíona gained her Advanced Diploma in Law and Education from the Honorable Society of the King’s Inns, in 2018.
Research interests
Fíona has a particular interest in the research areas of inclusion and diversity, leadership, and international, intercultural, and intersectional perspectives on children’s rights to, in and through education.
