Biography
Michael began his career teaching Agricultural Science, Science, and Mathematics and has since developed extensive expertise in supporting both students and fellow educators in different roles.
Building on this classroom experience, he has worked extensively in teacher education as an education advisor, contributing to national professional development initiatives through the PDST (now Oide) and the NCCA. His roles have centred on supporting teachers’ pedagogical development and curriculum engagement.
Since 2022, he has been part of the adjunct faculty with Hibernia College. In 2025, he joined the College’s academic team, further strengthening his role in shaping the next generation of teachers and advancing research-informed practice in initial teacher education.
Research interests
His research interests centre on teachers’ epistemological beliefs, curriculum theory and professional learning. His M.Ed. research explored the relationship between Irish science teachers’ beliefs about knowledge and their engagement with learning outcomes-based curricula.
