Education
Biography
Pamela Carolan is an Assistant Professor in Nursing in Hibernia College. She graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in General Nursing. She later completed her Master’s in Health Sciences (Nursing Education) from the National University of Ireland Galway and successfully registered as a Nurse Tutor with NMBI. Pamela completed a research study as part of her master’s programme examining if student nurses were applying their learnt best practice theory on clinical placement. She has held clinical posts in both the acute and community settings. She recently held a post as candidate advanced nurse practitioner for CIT/OPAT where she successfully led out on the development and implementation of OPAT in the area. She has completed post graduate modules in advanced health assessments and leadership.
Research interests
Pamela has a keen research interest in the integration of acute services into the community e.g. IV antibiotics and the benefits this has for the patient. She also has an interest in continuing to bridge the gap between theory and practice for student nurses.
