Harnessing Generative AI with Confidence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a distant concept—it is transforming classrooms, research, and educational planning. Generative AI (GenAI), in particular, is reshaping how educators teach, learners engage, and institutions plan for the future. But alongside its potential, it also raises profound questions about ethics, academic integrity, and the role of educators in a rapidly changing landscape.
Our new MAEd module on Generative AI in Education has been designed to equip learners with the skills, criticality, and confidence to navigate this transformation. This module does not simply explore what GenAI can do—it focuses on how, when, and why it should be integrated effectively into educational practice.
The arrival of GenAI presents both opportunities and challenges. From personalised learning pathways and more adaptive assessment design to new threats to academic integrity, educators and policy-makers must grapple with rapidly evolving technologies while maintaining ethical and transparent practices. This module provides a space for learners to:
- Explore real applications of GenAI across teaching, learning, assessment, and administration. Examine ethical implications and academic integrity in the age of AI.
- Build critical AI literacy to make informed, responsible decisions.
- Prepare for policy and practice shifts in education at local and global levels.
Through a blend of research, discussion, and practical exploration, participants will gain a deep understanding of GenAI in Education: Its development, transformative potential, and applications.
AI Foundations:
- What AI really means—narrow vs. general AI, and key concepts such as machine learning, natural language processing, and robotics.
- Personalised Learning: Opportunities to differentiate teaching and learning in new, innovative ways.
- Assessment in the Age of AI: Tools to design and evaluate robust assessment strategies that withstand emerging challenges to academic integrity.
- Research & Policy Engagement: Critical evaluation of current literature and the evolving roles of educators, researchers, and policy-makers in shaping ethical AI use.
This module is designed for educators, researchers, and policy professionals who want to deepen their understanding of GenAI and its implications for education. Whether your focus is on classroom practice, curriculum design, or strategic educational planning, this module will provide you with the competencies to lead in an AI-driven future. By developing critical AI literacy, understanding the ethical landscape, and engaging with transformative technologies, educators can ensure that GenAI enhances rather than disrupts learning. This module empowers learners to navigate change with insight, creativity, and responsibility.
