Do you meet the entry requirements?

NFQ Level 8 degree

Students on this programme will originate from directly cognate disciplines including, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering and technology. Applicants from partially cognate disciplines such as finance, accounting, business, etc. may be accepted as determined by the Programme Director following evaluation against established criteria. 
 
A minimum grade of Lower Second-Class Honours (2.2), or equivalent, in an honours bachelor’s degree at National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Level 8 is required.

English language proficiency

If your first language/primary mode of expression is not English, you will be required to produce evidence of English competence. The required proficiency level is B2 or higher in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Mathematical proficiency

This programme requires students to have good numerical and statistical skills. Because applicants can come from a diverse range of disciplines, essential foundational mathematics and statistics concepts will be introduced in a two-week orientation programme. You will also be provided with online learning resources in mathematics or programming should you require it after you complete the orientation programme.

NFQ Level 8 transcripts

You must provide a copy of your NFQ Level 8 transcripts in one file. This should be a copy of your official transcripts, confirming your overall award and the discipline studied.

Confirmation of PPSN

You are required to provide confirmation of your Personal Public Service Number (PPSN). You can do this using a payslip from an employer or the Department of Social Protection (DSP) or, alternatively, a copy of a Public Services Card.

Passport or National Identity Card

You must upload a copy of your passport or National Identity Card (driver’s licence is not accepted).

Confirmation of Residency

To qualify, all applicants must be currently resident in Ireland and must have been resident in an EU/EEA/ Swiss/ UK state for at least three of five years before course entry.

You must provide evidence confirming you are currently resident in Ireland. (e.g. utility bill, letter from employer, or DSP payment receipt).

If you have a status of EMPLOYED or RECENT GRADUATE, you must also upload evidence of having been resident in an EU/EEA/ Swiss/ UK state for at least three of five years before course entry to qualify.

Utility bills, P60s, P21s, End of Year Statements (Revenue), bank statements and lease/rental agreements are accepted as proof of this.

Proof of employment status

The level of funding available to you is dependent on your employment status at the time of course commencement.

  • If you are EMPLOYED, you must provide your latest (redacted) payslip or a letter from your employer.
  • If you are UNEMPLOYED, you must provide a recent DSP statement.
  • If you are a RECENT GRADUATE, you must provide a copy of your academic transcripts.
  • If you are a RETURNER/HOMEMAKER, you must sign a declaration form (available from springboardcourses.ie/eligibility)
